Whenever these plants are in bloom they are the most talked about flower in the garden. Hailing from South East Asia Tacca are one of the most interesting flowering plants. Growing to a height of about 18" each plant has about 5 dark green puckered leaves similar to hosta. Usually blooming in mid summer with otherworldly shaped flowers. Each 2 foot flower stem is topped by an open faced bloom consisting of 6 - 8" dark white papery bracts which open up to display a cluster of flowers. Hanging from the flowers are thread-like anthers that cascade 10 - 12" or more. Truly an oddity that makes a wonderful houseplant and will only becomes more exceptional with age.
